Liberal Democrats in Abbey Ward have selected David Batey to be their candidate for next May's local elections.

David Batey is a member of the Abbey Ward Liberal Democrat Focus Team and is also Chairman of Derby Liberal Democrats.

After his selection David Batey stated "I have been working closely with Abbey Ward Liberal Democrat Councillors Bryan Lowe and Deirdre Mitchell.

"We have worked together on many local issues like campaigning to get overgrowing trees cut back, graffiti removed and potholes fixed.

"However the one issue which has really given me a passion to fight this Labour led Council is their cruel cuts to pensioners and disabled people's Homecare services.

"Having met pensioners who have had their care services removed by the council I am determined to fight Labour's cuts which are hitting the most needy in Derby the hardest."
