Lib Dems launch ten pledges for Derby

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Apr 2008

Derby needs a council that will listen to local people. Not the Labour/Tory alliance that ignores people's views.

Liberal Democrats will listen to local people over issues like parking meters. The Labour/Tory alliance are not listening to local people.

We will get tough on anti-social behaviour across Derby. We will make our streets safer for local people of all ages.

We will scrap Labour's plans to introduce parking meters in unsuitable areas like around Littleover village shops.

We will improve public transport across Derby. The bus station project is in chaos and many of our bus routes need revamping.

We will stop Labour's congestion charging plans for Derby.

We will give local people a say in the decisions that affect them. We will back this up with the cash to enable people to get things done for their community.

We will take tough action on graffiti, fly-posting and fly-tipping .

We will concentrate on getting good quality public services - not wasting taxpayers money on gimmicks and pet projects.

We will protect and enhance our precious green spaces. We will take action to prevent "garden grabbing" which is a problem in

some parts of the city.

We will consider the environment in everything we do. Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today.

We will value and preserve Derby's heritage and make it fit for the 21st century.
